About the shrine

Medjugorje is a parish in Herzegovina that has drawn pilgrims from all over the world since 1981. They pray in the church of Saint James and climb the stony paths of Apparition Hill and Mount Križevac, where the parishioners raised a large cross in 1933 and 1934. In 2024 the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith gave the devotion lived here its nihil obstat. Medjugorje is known for quiet prayer and long queues for confession.
